Grounding: The most important intuitive toolBy R. Boucher Grounding is an important energy tool that helps you to feel better in your skin, giving you a sense of confidence and certainty with your daily life. Grounding is also a great way to exercise your intuitive muscles, bringing you more clarity. Before you ground yourself, notice how your body feels. Is there tension or un-ease any where? Do you feel happy, tired, upset, etc.? What do you notice? The best way to practice grounding at first is to sit in a chair and place your feet flat on the ground. Sit up straight, since you don't want to be slouching; you want the energy to move easily up and down your spine. Take a deep breath and imagine that your body is like a plant that needs to grow. At the bottom of your spine is your tailbone where your first chakra is. (A chakra is an energy center in your body.) Picture this space and say hello to the first chakra. Visualize a grounding cord coming out from your first chakra, and going deep into the center of the earth. This grounding cord can look like a thick tree trunk, a golden rope, a large tube of energy, or whatever you prefer. As this grounding cord is rooted to the earth, imagine getting rid of anything that is bothering you or old energy you no longer need. Feel the energy flow down the grounding cord and notice how your body changes as you practice this technique. It's good to breathe and say “hello” to yourself as you do this. Sometimes you might want to increase how large your grounding cord is. You can expand it to the size of your body, your aura (energy field), the room, or larger. There may be times when you want to attach a grounding cord to a part of your body. For example, you feel like your mom is in your head. In that case, imagine placing a grounding cord in the center of your head and tell the cord to drain out everyone's voices and energy. Notice how much energy goes down the cord. Bet you didn't realize how many people were in your head! When you feel pain in your body, experiment with a grounding cord. Find the location of the pain, and place a grounding cord in the center of that pain. Command the cord to flush out the stuck energy and breathe into the spot. Choose a color of the pain and watch it go down your draining cord. This may take a few minutes, but you'll notice a change in the situation. You can ground yourself any where, any time. You can even tell your body to continually ground through out the day, routinely checking in with yourself to gently remind your body to flush out all the excess energy you do not need, including other people's energy. Play around with this technique and see what works for you. You will notice a difference now that you've been grounded!
