Types of IntuitionBy R. Boucher Have you ever wondered whether you are intuitive? Well, here is your chance to look further at the different kinds of intuition and see for yourself. Intuition means knowing something that you can not see, feel, hear, or touch with your usual bodily senses.. There are a number of ways that you may be intuitive.
PrecognitionPrecognition means that you see or sense that something is going to happen before it does. This is the one that most people know and there are lots of television shows on the matter. If you hear about intuitives predicting the future, then we're talking precognition! ClairvoyanceClairvoyance means "clear seeing." People who are clairvoyant can see things in their mind or in front of them that others do not notice. Some people have visions or dreams. Some see beings, spirits, or ghosts. The movie Sixth Sense dealt with this topic (great flick!). Some clairvoyants can look into the past and tell you things that happened when they had no way of knowing the information, while other clairvoyants focus more on present matters or future possibilities. ClairaudienceClairaudience is another way of saying "clear hearing." If you have this gift, you sometimes hear things that were not spoken aloud by an actual (live) person. You may hear someone else's thoughts. You might hear a voice coming into one ear. Or you may hear a spirit speaking to you. (This one sometimes puts people in the loony bin, since you need to be able to distinguish what the voices are in your head and have command over the situation.) ClairsentienceClairsentience is when you feel the energy of other people or places. If you walk into a room and become aware of feelings that you didn't have before, chances are you have clairsentience. You may notice when a parent or teacher is about ready "to blow" and get upset. You may walk into a room that creeps you out or makes you sad. All of these are ways of being clairsentient. You may find yourself more in tune with people, places, animals, or nature; in other words, you sense the feelings of certain persons in your life, a room or a building, a pet, or plants, for example. Are you aware of other feelings that are not yours? ClairgustanceIf you have clairgustance, you are able to taste things without having anything in your mouth. You may step into a room or speak with a person and suddenly have a taste in your mouth that wasn't there before and you are not eating anything! ClairscentClairscent means "clear smell." If you have this intuitive skill, you might walk into a room or speak with a certain person and suddenly smell a new fragrance that no one else can smell. This specific intuitive smell is often attributed to a particular spirit or mood. As you look at these descriptions, you may have discovered that you have one or several of these intuitive gifts. Or you may wish you had certain talents. In any event, there are lots of techniques on how to develop your intuition and we'll be discussing them in other articles on this site. So stay tuned!
